Years Of Experience
SHEEO is a grassroots young feminist non-partisan, non-profit and non-governmental organization striving to help rural adolescents’ girls and young women thrive and become autonomous in rural Tanzania.
SHEEO was founded by a group of five young people from poor, rural families who survived different acts of Human rights violations when they were growing up. After their studies, they decided to come together and initiate this organisation to fight for the integral well-being of the impoverished rural adolescents’ girls and young women in Tanzania.
This organization was founded on April 11, 2020 and was called first Awakening Horn for Inclusive Rural Development - AHIRD until February 13, 2024 whereby during the Annual General meeting of 2023 held on that date, the members decided collectively to change this organization’s name and become “Solidarity for Her Education and Empowerment Organisation – SHEEO” purposely to make the organisation focusing solely on rural adolescents’ girls and young women due to its success in this area.
The new registration certificate number of our organization is 00NGO/R/6939 enacted on June 7, 2024 by the NGOs Registrar of the united republic of Tanzania.
Mission Statement
SHEEO NGO has a sole mission and call which is “to empower rural adolescents’ girls and young women to fight poverty, illiteracy, climate change, gender-based violence and discrimination through education assistance and mentorship, socio-economic empowerment, theatre and sports initiatives, advocacy and capacity building on climate change, women’s rights, sexual and reproductive health and rights.”
